IDTA Safeguarding Statement
At the IDTA we are committed to the highest standard of safeguarding practice and recognise the welfare of children who come into contact with our association as our highest priority. We respond to all safeguarding concerns in a timely manner and work with external specialists to ensure all concerns are addressed effectively. We are keen to create a learning culture around safeguarding and strive to provide our members with resources to keep them up to date on good practice.
If you have any concerns about harm to a child, young person or an at-risk adult you should report your concerns to your local authority safeguarding team, the NSPCC or to the police.
If you report a concern to the IDTA we will record the report and notify our Safeguarding Consultant, and Designated Safeguarding Lead (as appropriate).
The IDTA will make thorough enquiry into all allegations of harm and abuse raised to us and as necessary will refer to the Local Authority Designated Officer or the police to undertake investigation.
It is a requirement of IDTA membership that all teachers will comply with any enquiry and consequent recommendations made by the IDTA to ensure best practice and the safety of all students. Resources, templates and information are provided for teachers on safeguarding in the Members Area.
Complaints and concerns about an IDTA member teacher should be made via the complaints process and any safeguarding element of that complaint will be reviewed and explored by the IDTA safeguarding consultant, and the IDTA’s Designated Safeguarding Lead as appropriate. Complaints and concerns should be sent to info@idta.co.uk.
Concerns about safeguarding at IDTA events or about other teachers can be raised by IDTA teachers directly using the IDTA safeguarding concern form and emailed directly to the IDTA safeguarding consultant at safeguarding@idta.co.uk.

All concerns about safeguarding are taken extremely seriously by the IDTA and concerns we receive will be shared with the appropriate authorities. This can be done confidentially and further information about this can be found within the IDTA’s guidance in relation to the public Interest Disclosure Act (whistleblowing).

All concerns about safeguarding are taken very seriously by the IDTA and concerns we receive will be shared with the appropriate authorities. If a concern is raised anonymously and we do not have a complainant we can contact or the details of the individual who has experienced harm it can be hard for the IDTA or even the Local Authority / Police to take action. We would urge therefore that if you contact us with a safeguarding/ child protection concern where possible you share your details with us so we are able to address the issues you raise. This can be done confidentially and further information about this can be found within the IDTA’s guidance in relation to the public Interest Disclosure Act (whistleblowing).
